Rachel Maher trained at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet from 1991 to 2002. From there, she went on to study at the San Francisco Ballet School from 2002 to 2004. She attended many summer intensives including American Ballet Theatre Alabama, American Ballet Theatre New York City, and San Francisco Ballet.

While studying at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, she performed in several of George Balanchine’s ballets including The Nutcracker, Divertimento No. 15, Stars and Stripes and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ms. Maher performed in Don Quixote, Serenade and Who Cares? during her tenure with San Francisco Ballet. In 2004 she joined Pennsylvania Ballet II, was promoted to apprentice in the fall of 2006 and then promoted to the corps de ballet in January 2007. Ms. Maher has performed featured roles in Sleeping Beauty (Abundance Fairy), George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker (lead Marzipan and lead Hot Chocolate), Ricky Weiss’s Messiah, Coppélia (spinner and Prayer variations), Ballo Della Regina, and Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella (Fall).
